GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

Entries are open to the general public of the Damascus area and surrounding communities

This year the Fair is pleased to offer a $5.00 Special Premium to encourage more entries and exhibitors. One Special Premium will be awarded to each exhibitor in "Canned Products, Section K." The award is limited to one per exhibitor, and is not based on the number of entries. Exhibitors will continue to receive any ribbon premiums, as noted in General Rule and Regulations number 11.

All entries (Section A through M) will be accepted Thursday, September 5th, 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Entry instructions, helpful hints, and an example entry tag can be found in the catalog on pages 16-17. This year, exhibitor's will again have the option to submit Entry Forms electronically via the instructions on the web site.

All persons making entries must keep the stub of the entry tag and return it to the person in charge when picking up the entry.

Items entered incorrectly will be disqualified.

Each exhibitor will be limited to one entry per class, unless otherwise stated

All entries must have been grown/created/owned by the exhibitor within the past 12 months. No commercial products are to be judged in any class.

Entries previously exhibited at the Damascus Community Fair are not eligible, unless otherwise stated.

There will be separate age divisions for Pre-School under 5; Child 5 thorough 12; Teen 13 through 16; Adult 19 and over

Ribbons will be given as warranted for first, second, and third places, as well as Champion and Grand Champion; Monetary premiums will be paid as shown in the catalog on page 15.

Classes may be added or altered as justified and approved by the appropriate Superintendent

If there are fewer than three entries in a class, the cash prize and ribbons will be determined by the judges

Ribbons will be placed on the exhibits and they must remain with the exhibits in the showroom until the final Sunday at 4:00 pm. NO ENTRIES WILL BE RELEASED BEFORE 4 PM.

The Fair will be open to the public from 12 noon to 9:00 pm Friday, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Saturday, and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday.

The Community Fair sponsors will do all in their power to safeguard the products exhibited, but in no case will they be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.

Exhibits must not be handled in any way while on display

Positively no smoking after entering the building

Premiums will be available from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, the final day of the fair. All premiums not collected become donations to the fair. NO PREMIUMS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AFTER 6:00 PM.

All exhibits must be removed by 6:00 pm Sunday, the final day of the Fair. All exhibits left on Sunday night will be donated to charity. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The Directors of the Damascus Community Fair reserve the right to make any additions or corrections to these entries.

Child: ages 5 - 12
Teen: ages 13 - 18
Adult: age 19 and over
PREMIUMS
Ribbons will be given as warranted for first, second, third, Champion and Grand Champion. Money premiums will be as follows providing revenue is available:
Grand Champion $3.00 + Rosette
Champion $2.75 + Purple Ribbon
First $2.50 + Blue Ribbon
Second $2.25+ Red Ribbon
Third $2.00 + White Ribbon

LIVESTOCK ENTRIES

Livestock Entries (Beef, dairy, sheep, swine, goats, fowl, rabbits and small animals) are required to be mailed.

Entries must be postmarked no later than August 25, 2024. No hand-delivered or late entries will be accepted.

Forms may be obtained at Four County Animal Hospital, or call Emily Morris (301-526-0841).

No pre-school age division entries.

By authority of the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 15.11.14.06, Exhibitor Requirements), the Maryland Department of Agriculture, Animal Health Program now requires that ALL cattle and swine exhibited during the 2024 Maryland Fairs and Shows season must have official USDA RFID Ear Tags.
